Addition of Money
When we buy
more than one item from a shop, we need to add the prices of each item to pay
the bill.
Example: Renu bought a packet of rice for ₹ 80
and a sandwich for ₹ 25. How much money does she need to pay?
To find the
total money that she has to pay, she needs to add ₹ 80 and ₹ 25.
₹ 80
+ ₹ 25
------------
₹ 105
------------
Thus, Renu
needs to pay ₹ 105.
Subtraction of Money
When we have
some money and we spend a part of the money, then to find the remaining amount,
we subtract the money spent from the total money.
Example: Manav had ₹ 135 with him. He bought a
toy for ₹ 110. How much money was left with him?
To find the
remaining money, he has to subtract ₹ 110 from ₹ 135.
₹ 135
– ₹ 110
------------
₹ 25
------------
Thus, Manav
was left with ₹ 105.

by her mother = ₹ 50 + ₹ 10 + ₹ 10 + ₹ 1 + ₹ 1 = ₹ 72
Total money
= ₹ 95 + ₹ 72
₹ 95
+ ₹ 72
