**Ex 1.2
Class 8 Maths Question 1.**

Represent these numbers on the number line.**(i)**7/4

**(ii)**−5/6

**Solution:**

**(i)** For 7/4, we make 4 equal divisions of
distance between 0 and 1, and between 1 and 2. Each division represents ¼. The
point P represents the rational number 7/4.

**(ii)**For −5/6, we make 6 equal divisions of distance between 0 and -1. Each division represents -1/6. The point P represents the rational number −5/6.

**Ex 1.2 Class 8 Maths Question 2.**

Represent −2/11, −5/11, −9/11 on the number line.

**Solution:**

To represent −2/11, −5/11, −9/11 on a number line, draw a number line and mark
a point O on it to represent zero (0). Now, mark a point P representing
integers -1 on the left side of O on the number line.
