Linear Equations in One Variable Class 8 Worksheets play a very important role in strengthening the maths concepts.

Linear Equations in One Variable Class 8 Worksheet

1. Solve the following linear equations.

a. 3x – 5 = x + 5

b. 2(x – 11) = 5(x + 10)

c. 3p – 4 = 11

d. 3m – 4 = 4m + 11

e. 5x + 9 = 3x – 11

f. 2(x + 3) = 8 – 3(x – 4)

g. 5(x + 2) = 2(x – 1)

h. 5(x + 1) = 3(x – 2)

2. Solve the following equations by reducing them in linear form.

a. 5/(3x + 5) = 1/(x – 1)

b. (2 – x)/(x – 5) = -3/7

c. 2/(6x – 19) = 3/(2x – 11)

d. (7y – 4)/(2y + 11) = 9/5

3. Two numbers are such that the ratio between them is 5 : 7. If 7 is added to each of them, the ratio becomes 3 : 4. Find the numbers.

4. The sum of three consecutive multiples of 3 is 63. Find the multiples.

5. The sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 15. If 9 is added to the number, the digits are interchanged. Find the number.

6. The sum of two numbers is 85. If one number exceeds the other by 25, find the two numbers.

7. The angle A of a triangle ABC is equal to the sum of the other two angles. Also, the ratio of the measure of angle B to that of C is 4 : 5. Determine the three angles.

8. Thrice a number decreased by 5 gives the result 16. Find the number.

9. The sum of the present ages of Shivam and Meena is 60 years. If the ratio of their present ages is 7 : 8, find their present ages.

10. Divide  489 into two parts such that the first part is  9 more than twice the second part.

11. The sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 10. If 36 is subtracted from the number, the digits interchange their places. Find the number.

12. The sum of three consecutive even integers is 150. Find the consecutive even integers.
